My husband and I wanted to renovate a portion of our home that was originally built in the 1890’s.  We desired some storage areas, a walk-in pantry, a laundry room, and a powder room.  We also discussed at length the addition of an attached three car garage (we did not currently have any garage).  We had previously renovated a portion of our home including a new kitchen and new bathrooms, so we were not new to renovations.  We had some unusual requests and a desire to maintain some of the “farmhouse” look as we made these changes and additions to our home. Don Dale spent a lot of time LISTENING to our needs and our wants.  We spent a lot of time really determining how large or small we wanted each area to be, how elaborate or simple we wanted the design to be, what we wanted to store, and exactly how to use each separate storage area. Don took the time to show us different options and ideas.  He drew up a design with an attached garage and a design without an attached garage so I could have some perspective.  Each design was well thought out, and yet he gladly made every little change that I wanted.  Designing an addition is a large undertaking.  It is important to work with someone you can talk to and trust. Don and Ryan Dale were both wonderful to work with.  Both men were on time to every meeting and always just a phone call away for any questions I had throughout the design and building process.  I would HIGHLY recommend the services of Don Dale Designs to anyone whether they have a small or large addition and especially if they have an unusual property, as we did.

Our daughter and son-in-law approached us with the idea of tearing down their garage and building in-law quarters. We were interested in one floor living with room usage on a second level and an area separate from the main home.  We soon learned there were other concerns: state and local guidelines, a builder, and our own personal design challenges.  We decided to have plans drawn, and Don Dale came to mind. Don was forthright in taking our ideas under advisement; producing plans that included the latest state and local codes; addressing the concerns for ourselves, daughter, and son in law; and assuring the builder that there would be no delays throughout the collaborative effort. Don’s liaison approach was amazing.  Don established open lines of communication, then successfully handled and resolved all circumstances efficiently. A situation required Don to go outside for engineer certification. Don did this without hesitation. The project was completed within the arranged timeline. The constructed shed and privacy wall met the design of the new building. Our new home matches the main home and provides ample space for a living room with fire place, kitchen with laundry, and a large bedroom with bath and walk in closet. A staircase was added for the upstairs which included a usable room with balcony, a bath , and storage area. Our friends and neighbors loved the arrangement so much that it provided ideas for them in the future. Most importantly the design architecturally blended with the main home. We are very appreciative everyday for what Don Dale did for us – for his designs, for his liaison approach to maintain everyone’s cooperation , and to have in-law quarters that are our own.

Don’s expertise in design and architectural drawing provided us with a successful plan for a major whole-house renovation. We appreciated how clear and timely the communication was throughout the project. He was both professional and personal. Andrea and I were extremely pleased with Don’s ability to design our addition by carefully listening to the features that WE wanted to incorporate into the design. when we met with Don to discuss our project, he listened to our ideas and provided thoughtful and valuable input on how to incorporate our wishes into our addition. This was breath of fresh air, due to the fact that when we first began the design of our addition, we met with other designers who were focused more on creating an addition that either THEY thought was best or one that was “cookie cutter” easy. He is also able to recommend what material will look the best when tying an addition to an existing structure. When you meet with Don, it is obviously apparent that he LOVES what he does and, as a result, he doesn’t cut any corners in getting from the initial brainstorming phase to the final blueprints. We were extremely pleased with Don’s involvement from beginning to end.
